So I was out running this morning (side note: the weather is amazing and my runs are awesome because of it) around the time that kids are getting to school when I saw a young boy (probably middle school maybe younger) waiting to cross the street. He was all by himself and where he chose to cross the street, there were no crossing guards. However, there was a sign that indicated that this was a pedestrian crossing area. I spotted him a ways back therefore I was able to see this boy stand there for quite some time (may only 30 seconds but still..) as the cars sped by with nobody stopping to let him cross. Really people? I was about to turn myself into a crossing guard so that this boy could make his way across the street. I was sure my bright pink shirt would come close to the bright yellow vests the crossing guards wear. I find it hard to believe that nobody saw this boy standing on the side waiting to cross the street and it amazes me that nobody could take 15 seconds to stop to let this boy cross. As a society, are we really THAT busy that stopping to let a child cross the street is going to cause problems for the rest of the day? A short bit after I crossed the boy I saw a cop car pass by. (I thought to myself, oh for sure the cop should have stopped to let this boy across the street) I then turned around and saw that the boy had for sure made it to the other side. Now whether it was the cop or just another car, thanks for being generous. I'm sure you're 15 second good deed of the day will be looked upon in a positive way. As for the rest of the people that didn't stop, I can only hope that they will eventually snap out of their own busy lives and look to help out one another.
On another note, tonight is the UCF vs. UAB. The weather is PERFECT and I'm so excited! It should be a fun night. I even bought a new shirt to wear. :)
Have a great day. And find a way to be unselfish.
